Essentials for the big day, just in case…
I always like to be prepared and you never know what you are going to need on the day of the party; for rehanging decorations, or fixing a fancy dress costume or scrabbling around to find the all important matches to light the candles on the cake. So, I’d recommend making up a box or bag of essentials that might just save the day!
If you are hosting your party at home, hopefully you will have most of the tool box items around the house, but it’s worth putting them all in a place close to hand so you can easily find them. If you are hosting the party at a venue such as a church hall, that you are decorating yourself, then the ‘party day tool box’ is a must!
Here’s my go to list for the ‘party day tool box’:
- Scissors
- Sellotape
- Duck tape
- Double sided tape
- Blue tack
- Elastic bands
- Fishing line (it’s really strong, great for hanging up decorations)
- Thin wire
- Cable ties
- String or wool
- Matches or lighter
- Kitchen roll
- Baby wipes
- Plastic bag clips
- Sandwich bags
- Small sewing kit
- Multi tool
- Permanent marker pen
- Glue
- AA Batteries (eg for bubble machine)
- Bin bags (particularly if you are hosting the party out in the park)
- First aid kit (I think most external venues should have one of these, but it never hurts to have one with you and it is particularly important if you are hosting the party outside in a park)
